Do you remember Skin Musk by Bonnie Bell? You could find it in your local drug store back in the 90’s and it was an inexpensive oil that smelled….well… heavenly! They later introduced a Eau de Toilette that was a great disappointment as it smelled nothing like the original. The Skin Musk oil was soft, subtle, and alluring. It smelled like freshly showered skin, soft musk, and mystery. This was a scent that men were inexplicably drawn to and that women loved to wear.
We have gotten so many requests for it here at The Fragrance Shop and after years, and I do mean YEARS, of trying to reproduce it, I am happy to say…..SUCCESS!!!! For all of you die hard Skin Musk fans out there, call us at 888-377-3677 for details on how to order a sample! We’ll be waiting to hear from you!

One of our specialties here at the store is helping our customers create there own custom fragrance. One of the biggest questions we get is “Do you do PH testing?” We do not and here is why…your PH is constantly changing. Have you changed your diet? The liquids that you consume? Are you taking antibiotics or any other temporary medications? All of these things contribute to your PH and how a perfume is going to react with your body chemistry! What we do is this, a customer will come in and pick out different fragrance Notes that they are drawn to. Of course once the Notes are picked out, we have to consider a formulation. Which scent would they like to be the star, and which would they like to be the back up singers? Just because the Notes smell lovely on their own, does not mean that they are going to play well with each other! Also, testing on the skin is key. How is your body chemistry going to react with the fragrance? Just because something smells great in a bottle does not mean it’s going to smell great on you. Have you ever smelled a fragrance on a friend and loved it? Have you then raced to the perfume counter at your favorite store and purchased it? Then have you run home to spray it on and bask in the beauty of the scent only to find that on you, it smells completely different??? That, my friends, is why testing the fragrance and living with it is so important. Okay, back to mixing a custom blend. Once we figure out a formulation for you personal perfume, guess what’s next!?!?! YOU GET TO NAME IT!!! We keep the formulas on file in our computer under the person’s name and the name of their fragrance so they can reorder it to their hearts content! Now when someone asks them, “You smell delicious, what are you wearing?” they can casually answer back “oh, it’s just a perfume that I created myself”. How Fun!!! Go get creative and blend your own special scent!
