The Fragrance Shop Makes Buying Pure Perfume Oils Easier With New Consumer Friendly Website

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ — What began as a part time endeavor by Penny Kay, the owner of The Fragrance Shop, has turned into an international enterprise with the recent launch of a new consumer friendly e-commerce website.

“The original Fragrance Shop retail store in Provincetown, Massachusetts operated as just a seasonal business. The success of that summer-time only location quickly led to the opening of year round shops in Miami Beach, New Orleans and Laguna Beach,” stated Kay.

“In the early days, our website just provided information about our perfume oils and where to find our retail shops. It was a first generation website which was extremely common for that time. The technology to handle e-commerce over the net was still in its infancy,” Kay said. “Plus, in the late 1990’s, consumers weren’t emotionally ready or trusting enough to make purchases on the internet.”

The new Fragrance Shop website now offers over 1000 fragrance oils all of which are made without fillers or alcohol. For consumer shopping convenience, the site’s navigations tools make it easy to search for designer fragrances, musk oils, domestic oils, imported oils, essential oils and house blends.

“One of the most unique features of our new website is our Sample Oils section. For a small charge a consumer can order samples of any perfume oil. Our sample bottles are large enough to allow someone to tryout a particular perfume for one or two weeks,” said Penny Kay. “We’re one of the few websites that offer samples to help a customer select an appropriate fragrance for them at a very reasonable price.”

The new Fragrance Shop website also offers detailed information on each fragrance such as scent strength, scent life, recommended use, fragrance ingredients and other crucial fragrance information to help consumers select their appropriate fragrance.

“To help shoppers make a purchase decision, we incorporated a customer rating and review system on the site, plus we highlight Best Sellers and New Arrivals,” stated Kay. “If a consumer still has questions, they can utilize our Ask the Fragrance Adviser section to help find exactly what they want.”

Another feature of The Fragrance Shop’s new website is an easy to navigate one page checkout. According to Penny Kay, “We spent a lot of time talking with customers about their experiences buying online. What we discovered was that people are very loyal to sites that make it easy to find what they’re looking for and being able to check out and pay quickly.”

Kay added, “A website’s checkout is really the same as a retail store. Once people are done shopping, they want to get on with their life and not waste time. We’ve made our checkout process very fast, simple and easy.”

The Fragrance Shop operates retail locations in Miami Beach, Florida, New Orleans, Louisiana and Laguna Beach, California in addition to the their e-commerce website www.thefragranceshop.com. What In the World are We Wearing!?!

Here’s a list of some of the chemicals that are used in Commercial spray perfumes and colognes!

Chemical Compounds
Like any fragranced product, perfume has its fair share of undesirable chemical additives. Whether used to prolong the scent, mimic a natural aroma or act as a solvent, the chemicals found in perfume are numerous and many are toxic. Over 500 chemicals can be used to make one fragrance, the most popular being:

• Benzaldehyde a representative of the aromatic aldehydes. It is a colorless liquid aldehyde with a characteristic almond odor.  Two different types of aldehydes (aromatic and aliphatic) can undergo crossing reaction to form formaldehyde.
• Benzyl alcohol Toxic effects of benzyl alcohol, including respiratory failure, vasodilation, hypotension, convulsions, and paralysis have been known for years.  Also used for the treatment of head lice in a 5% dilution.
• Ethanol also called ethyl alcoholpure alcoholgrain alcohol, or drinking alcohol, is a volatileflammable, colorless liquid. It is a psychoactive drug, best known as the type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages and in modern thermometers.
Ethyl acetate used as a solvent for varnishes, lacquers, dry cleaning, stains, fats and nitrocellulose. It is released during the production of artificial silk and leather, and during the preparation of photographic films and plates. It is released during the manufacture of linoleum, and ‘plastic’ wood, dyes, pharmaceuticals, drug intermediates, acetic acid, artificial fruit flavorings and essences, and perfumes and fragrances. Ethyl acetate is used as a solvent in nail polish, nail polish remover, base coats and other manicuring products.
• Linalool an ingredient that is most commonly used in shampoos, conditioners and soap to boost scent, can cause allergy and eczema in many individuals.
